Chi University-formerly known as the Chi Institute-is where Dr. Gravelle has taken her continued education courses and received her certifications. Chi University only allows veterinarians or 4th year veterinarian students to participate in course and become certified.
TCVM is a medical system that has been used in China for thousands of years to treat animals . It is an adaptation and extension of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) used to treat humans. Diseases are seen in as an imbalance in the body. Traditional Chinese Medicine views health as a balance existing between the internal environment of the body and the external environment. Pathogens, nutrition, trauma, emotional upset, and climate can disrupt the balance. TCVM can be used to treat a variety of conditions including lameness, pain, inflammation, muscle soreness, allergies, anhydrosis (not sweating), hormonal imbalances, and behavioral problems. TCVM is very safe and effective in the hands of a trained practitioner. Only licensed veterinarians are allowed to practice TCVM.
Acupuncture is a branch of traditional Chinese medicine that has been practiced for thousands of years in China. It has been tested, researched, and refined over many years to give us an understanding of the body's energetic balance. The National Institute of Health recognized acupuncture and its effectiveness in treating different conditions in 1997. Disease is caused by imbalance in the body, and acupuncture helps restore the balance. It also increases circulation, stimulates nerves, and releases stem cells.
Spinal manipulation includes techniques that have a low intensity and high velocity, directing force in certain areas to help realign skeletal structures and the nervous system. This supports the musculoskeletal function and overall health. Injury and abnormalities can identified and corrected with this treatment.
Tui-Na is an ancient form of therapeutic massage and body work. It is a branch of Traditional Chinese Medicine and means "pushing and pulling." It is a form of physical body work and subtle energy work. Tui-Na promotes movement of Qi, mobilizes joints to improve articulation, improves microcirculatory circulation, and relieves muscle cramps and tonifies muscle tissue.
Chinese herbs can be used as prevention and treatment. These herbs restore balance and harmony in the body. They can be used alone or in addition to acupuncture. They may take a few months to work because they are treating the root of the problem.
